The government of Canada recently released a bulletin that stated that the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) closed as of December 31, 2021. Let us take a few minutes to break down exactly what it means for you.
The AIPP has announced the closure of the program as well as the expiration of some pilot bilateral agreements. This means that the program is essential not going forward in the long term.
There is a glimmer of hope however for anyone who is ready now to take advantage of this program. Though the program is closed, the Ministerial Instructions (MIs) allow for the program to continue until March 5, 2022.
What does this mean? If you were already preparing all of your paperwork, and if you were basically ready to submit your paperwork, you still have January and February 2022 to do so. After March 5, 2022, that door will be shut for good. Any applications received for the Pilot after that March date should be automatically rejected.
There is still time to try to get in within a very narrow window of opportunity. You literally have just over 55 days to get all your information prepared. This is time sensitive so tell your family and friends.
